Life just got easier for the bicycling population of Diamond Valley. Several secure storage units for bicycles and like items were erected this week in the underground carpark of the Diamond Valley apartments. DV has lots of two-wheel commuters and interest in the bicycle for healthy eco-friendly travelling and sport is growing and growing.
Cycling in Diamond Valley goes back a lot further than we might think. One of the founding fathers of sport cycling in Ireland – the famous RJ Mecredy lived in the Valley of Diamonds. As well as being a world champion cyclist, the man invented the crazy sport of bicycle polo- which was played on the seafront in Bray during the late 1800s. These days you can still catch sight of a game at the Phoenix Park, Dublin, on Sundays.
Competitive cycling in Bray is the domain of Bray Wheelers, who always welcome new members. Read more about how to join Bray Wheelers http://www.diamondvalley.ie/Sports.html and eco-transportation in Diamond Valley http://www.diamondvalley.ie/Transportation.html
